On June 25, the UK-Kosovo Tech Hub was officially inaugurated at Tech Park Prishtina, marking a pivotal milestone in the bilateral economic relationship between the United Kingdom and Kosovo. The British Kosovar Chamber of Commerce (BKCC) is exceptionally proud to serve as a key partner in this initiative, alongside STIKK (the Kosovo ICT Association), the British Embassy in Pristina, and ProCredit Bank Kosovo.

Designed with a precise mandate, the Hub serves as a strategic conduit to connect Kosovo’s rapidly maturing ICT sector with the high-volume demand of the UK market. The launch event brought together an influential assembly of over 70 delegates, spanning technology firms, institutional leaders, and academic minds from both nations.

The foundational research behind the Hub highlights a clear, data-driven opportunity. While Kosovo’s ICT exports to the UK have more than tripled in recent years—growing from €4 million to €13.9 million—the UK currently remains only the fourth-largest market for Kosovan technology firms. Given the alignment in service demands between the UK and Kosovo’s top markets, there is significant, untapped potential for growth.

As British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, articulated during his opening remarks, the partnership aligns the UK’s trillion-pound, innovation-driven tech ecosystem with Kosovo’s greatest asset: a highly capable, multilingual, and adaptable young workforce. “We do not want simply to talk about potential,” Ambassador Hargreaves noted. “We want to help create the conditions for it.”

The event underscored that Kosovan firms are already delivering to British standards. A compelling fireside chat featured Behar Fazliu, CEO of Arcus, detailing their successful collaboration with BAE Systems. This included engineering the secure system that published the results of Kosovo’s recent national elections with zero downtime—a definitive proof of concept for UK buyers seeking reliability and excellence.

BKCC representatives John Grogan, Artan Llabjani, and Dan Qarkaj joined the event to provide a UK business perspective and to formally reaffirm the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Chamber and STIKK. Through matchmaking, market intelligence, and targeted trade missions, this collaborative platform will demystify the market and place Kosovan supply directly in front of real UK demand.

The Road Ahead: Building the Digital Bridge The theoretical foundation has now been laid; the focus shifts entirely to practical execution. This autumn, the BKCC and its partners are mobilizing to deliver high-impact B2B trade missions.

  • London Delegation (September): We will be hosting a dynamic delegation of Kosovan tech companies in London, fostering direct, face-to-face engagements with prospective UK partners as part of our ongoing commitment to building a robust digital bridge between our economies.

  • Prishtina Delegation (October): Following the London event, a reciprocal UK delegation will travel to Prishtina to coincide with the KosICT tech festival, immersing UK businesses in the energy and capability of Kosovo’s tech ecosystem.

The UK-Kosovo Tech Hub is more than an initiative; it is a shared platform built on separate, impactful contributions from across both markets. Companies interested in participating in the upcoming autumn trade missions are encouraged to contact us at info@bkcc.co.uk.
